Tie breakers
- Same hand type? Compare the ranks that make the hand first (a pair of kings beats a pair of queens), then the leftover cards, called kickers, from highest down.
- Suits never break ties in Texas Hold'em. If both hands are truly identical, the pot is split.
- An ace can be low in a straight: A 2 3 4 5 (the wheel) is the lowest straight.
- Only your best five cards count, even though you can see seven.
